Ah if only dogs could talk.... Tabi would have been saying, "stupid human, cannot even train a puppy...." So at 2AM she took it upon herself to wake up Kurt and tell him puppy had to go out... sure enough, Kurt found her circling in her crate..... Kurt took he out, she did her business, and came back in, and fell asleep. We woke up to a clean crate this morning. Indeed, all day we have had zero accidents! Wow, that Tabi dog is good! what ever did she tell the puppy?!
No, don't worry, I'm not getting that confident. I know she's not trained yet. But, wow, it's nice to have a good day after 8 days of chaos.....

A bit of free advertising, 'eh?! We took this shot as our local paper publishes photos of local paper & folks in a global setting.
Can you tell where the Green Lantern went?!! hahahaha.... His abilities are amazing at times!
Ja, I really want to upload more trip pics as the days are passing.... I'm still so turned upside down. With the computer crashed, the new puppy messing (litterally) the household and routines.... Thankfully Kurt hooked up the new dryer so I can properly dry all the laundry again.....
I swear, I do this everytime I get complacent and comfy with our life. I have to stir it up and make it frustrating. And, when the heck is school going to start again?! 3 months is insane for them to be home. And, on the flip side, the months and months of long school days is also too long.
GAH!
It has to improve from here? right?!

making progress
Well, Kurt put in my new harddrive followed by the recovery disc that I made less than 2 years ago.... The wireless internet connection is being difficult, as is my wireless networking to the family system. sigh...
He then hooked up my old hard drive to a fancy gadget he bought.... which hooked over to his machine where he proceded with the modern surgery..... Just like in a hospital.... I paced, trying to find things to do, occupy my time while I waited for the surgeon's prognosis.
It was not a good prognosis.
The surgery as far as Kurt could do was not enough to save my photos.
=(
Ja, I know, I've learned the hard way. Never leave photos on the flash cards longer than you have to... and for heaven's sake, don't erase them before copying them to the external hard drive and then promptly burning them to disc.... sigh. Sure, I can probably take them to a shop and have an expensive data recovery process done..... but.... but... what else is on my hard drive that could be damaging... incriminating? Anything? Probably not... but I can't be sure. Dilemas, dilemas.... what to do?!
Oh, and what's the Swedish word for 'mischief'?! Hahahah... nah, she's ok... but, wow, 10 week old puppies are busy, busy, busy! Kurt and I are remembering all the training issues we went through with Tabi... even though she was housetrained, we pulled our hair out over here lack of obeying our 'COME!' command... sigh... and then there was her nasty habit of rolling in the local 4-legged visitor's crap in the woods... ACK! So far today, no accidents in the house. But, it's only 9AM.....
Like Kurt says, there are no bad doggies, only misbehaving owners. And everything I read online and in my books says puppies need to go out EVERY hour! gah.... well, at least it's raining these couple of days! hahahah

fast friends
This just makes my heart go a pitter patter!
I've been jumpy and a bundle of nerves. My house and comfortable routine has been turned upside down. Of course, what did I expect? Bringing in a puppy, one with diarrhea will turn your comfy routine on it's ass.
But, really, the first night was not so bad. Her crate was in the upper living room... and even though we were right above her sleeping in the loft, she began her crying and barking.... sigh. So, Kurt had the idea, at 11:30pm, to go downstairs and with my help carry her crate up to our room so she could smell us. Problem solved. That easily. She now flops on the pillow at the back of the crate and sleeps quietly until 6am when we find her anxious to get out so mama can clean up the soiled newspapers.... sigh....
But, look! This shot was the second day at home! Now each evening they play chase me around the coffee table.... skidding around on the wood floors. And, if pup was just thiiiis much taller she could jump up onto the couch all by herself!
Today, she finally learned how to climb stairs. The closed ones anyways... the open riser stairs to our loft still has her spooked, but I suspect she'll be bounding up and down them in no time!
Gah, look at me... talking all about my new baby.... ack. This puppy business is crazy. The two old ladies, Tabi and me, just look at each other as the pup pulls toy after toy out of the basket then, "LOOK! It's a tail to chase! LOOK! There's some food in the dish! LOOK! There's a kitty! LOOK! I'm going to hop up on the couch for sure this time. .... over and over and over again.... bah! Youth!

and with the rattling and whirrr'ing
My laptop froze, and died...taking with it several hundred unsaved photos.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhh!
I still have the Germany photos on the flash cards so I can get them again. The past weekend's wedding photos are stuck on the dead hard drive, as well as some phone camera pics ..... I know, back-up, save often... all that sort of stuff. But, I thought my laptop was immortal, invincible.
How does a perfectly healthy machine, that has no sounds and side effects just up and crash?!
Well, Kurt's already plotting, perhaps he can work his magic again with my machine!

Kelda

A pretty Scandinavian name, and also the name of our newest family member!
She has the sweetest tempermant... so far. She has a gentle demeanor, not hyper at all. She loves to cuddle, and give soft kisses, and haven't heard a single bark.
We brought Tabi over to meet the new puppy this morning and it seemed to be a success. Tabi sniffed the new puppy, and moved on to all the other smells. She didn't growl or act like she was threatened at all! I think it's perfect that the puppy is a calm little girl, that helps keep Tabi calm and at ease. So, after about 15 minutes of playing on the front lawn, we decided we'd bring Kelda home with us as a new Schulenburg!
Once home we played for a bit in our yard and then decided a big walk through the forest and down to the lake would be fun! The little girl kept up just great, and is now crashed on the sofa taking a nap!
Some of her first photos are over here on Flickr!

Sunday at 10am
We go to meet the little puppy! If all is well, we shall bring back to her forever home with us!
So now, we're all busy thinking up names so we can vote on one!! Help! I need a good German girl's name!! ...and preferably with a hard, consanant sound to begin the name! P's or K's or T's....
Of course, I'm on Google right now searching! ;)

The phone interview this morning
...went well! We're nearly finished with the screening process. She told me the process goes fairly quickly from here. A week from now we could have a new puppy! I checked their website and found Millie has been taken off their adoptable list! Maybe we can all meet her Thursday or this weekend!

Hoooray!

Hoooray!

I'm looking
Well, I promised myself that I had to wait until after I got home from Germany before looking at the adoptable puppies!
Today, I've been looking! I've filled out 2 online applications. Now to find a day when Tabi, Kurt and I can go out and meet one to see how everyone fits together!
Here are the three local ones I found:

Just from reading their descriptions, I am kinda leaning toward Cujo as #1 choice... Millie as #2... But, we have to see how Tabi reacts when she meets them! I think Kurt's right, she is pretty accepting to small dogs and a little puppy would be the same thing. I think either of those dogs will grow up bigger than Tabi, but it would be ok by then! Every time we've encountered a Siberian Husky with the blue, blue eyes... Tabi would instantly growl. She's also not been happy to be around a big white lab dog.... Little dogs are fine though. Funny.
I'd change their names, since they're younger than Tabitha was when we got her. They'll get used to a new name. For a girl I'd like to name her after our dear friend, Connie. She'd get a kick out of that as she always named her pets and barnyard pets after friends of hers.... For the boy puppy.... it'd have to be German.... perhaps Klaus.... heh heh... since I didn't get to name a baby boy Klaus! ;)

nectarines
My most favorite fruit and color! This dainty cup I found in a little German store.... well, that's the quaint version. I think it was Woolworths... ha! But, the color, really I couldn't pass it up! From the label on the bottom, I found their website! Beautiful pottery! But, I only have the cup.

Ooh i like these pants
Ya, these are the ones! Nifty! Groovy layers for pants and the top is nice too... loads of glitter, always great.
Now, must make sure to keep my bier belly sucked in... and the saggy girls tucked up into the smocking! ha!

Indeed
You know it's PMS when I'm eating ice cream right out of the carton.... I don't even like ice cream! But, alas, there's no chocolate here and there are no cookies in the house, 'cause I know better than to buy them. I have zero self control when it comes to cookies. My kids, when they were young, thought graham crackers were cookies... poor kids, never had a decent Oreo or chocolate, chocolate chunk cookie. heh. Mmmmmm
Eh...
The weight's coming off... thanks to the Healthy Eating diet we've been on for the past month... or year as in Kurt's case. It's actually quite good food and really, really handy for me who doesn't know how to cook! This past month that I've been on the 1200 calories per day... I've lost 7 pounds! 19 more to go!
But, ya know, every so often.... I'm just starving! And today, is one of those days.....

Memory lane
1872!
That's Eintausandachthundertzweiundsiebzig photos I took... and unfortunately for me, my camera battery died so I missed excellent photos as we flew over Greenland.... of the mountain tops poking up from the clouds, and the dazzling, aquamarine colored water with floating icebergs! WOW! Talk about spectacular! An absolutely incredible site to behold! Those images will stay with me, just wish I could have shared them too!
So yes, the flight home was better. Must have been a newer plane. We had window-side seats, (the row of seats in the middle is just too clausterphobic for my liking...), and really plenty of leg room... and the seats seemed to lean back quite a bit for cheap class seating! Nice! Of course, I didn't sleep, and Kurt didn't much either.... I had just closed my eyes and was drifting off to sleep when the stewardess came 'round for the initial orange juice before take off and woke me up... Frustrating! They didn't care who was sleeping they woke up everyone each time they had food/drinks/custom forms, whatever.... quite an irritating practice! You will all wake up! Ah well, the plane was roomy and we had seats with a view... all was well!
Wow! I did just a quick peek at them and OH!, the memories!! "Ah, right, we did spend a day in Rottweil!" Eeeeks! Although, over 1800 photos... it seems a bit daunting of a task to sort and upload.... Ah, but don't worry, they'll get done!
They'll be up soon! Off to work!
