First thought... it's weird to have your kid reading your blog. Heh. A little peek into the mom he doesn't see? Or maybe he does....? That, and his big dog shoes are the same size as mine! Just weird...them on the floor next to mine!
Hey, and speaking of shoes.... I needed some black sandals for Florida, so, I went to eBay, I saw, I bought! Woohoo! Aren't they fun?! And, free shipping too!

Where I sound like Homer Simpson
"MMMmmmmm, Braunschweiger!" It's my lack of restraint that has caused me to gain *($#!!!&* pounds this weekend. I couldn't even make the sandwich in peace... the dog could smell it and would hustle down the stairs to see if this time I was sharing again. She looks up at me with those eyes that say, "c'mon fattie, share that livery-sausagey-goodness!" Why even now she sits at my feet licking her lips for good measure... sigh.... It's the final sandwich. That sinfully good fat is now finished.
Wow, what a weekend. I blearily stumbled through yesterday. It'd be nice to win the lottery... I could get used to eating, sleeping and playing all day at my own whims.... sigh. But, it was back to the grind. Thankfully, my cell phone died somewhere along the weekend.... but there were 9 messages waiting for me to sort through.... plenty of catching up to do, putting out fires, all that stuff. It's a bit overwhelming coming back after 4 days off....
But, we're back on track now.... back to working off this holiday weight, 'cause you know, Christmas is right around the corner!
Speaking of Christmas, we ended the Thanksgiving holiday with the dragging out all the lights and the tree..... The outside is still a bit drab, it needs more color.... I'll have to find some more big lights for the deck railing and put them up while this 60 degree weather lasts! Snow on Thursday though..... And then there's the shopping to be finished this week! We leave for Florida holiday in 17 days!!! Aaack! So much to do. 'Tis the season, though, right?!

Memories
A peek into our long, food-induced sluggish nap-taking, knittie, holiday nog drinking, Sims playing weekend! Mmmmmm, naps! ;)
Taking one of many mile walks, 'cause we just can't keep eating.... must make room for dinner ya know!
The new wool and mohair chunky hat I made this weekend!
Ran out of room in the fridge, so we put the beer, red wine, holiday nog and other yummies outside! Works like a charm!
Friday's walk
Tabi liked the back to back Simpson's season 4 too!
Oh man, can we be any more slothful??!!! I don't know, but oh this frozen lime fruit bar is tarty-licious! ;)

Remember, this is my favorite holiday
Waking up to the smell of bacon, at 7:30 mind you! Mmmm, sleeping in and nowhere to be. Ooh, the foodies we have on hand. The hours and hours of free time.... movies to watch, socks to knit, even finished a hat for little K this morning! We've finished our shopping and put it all away last night at 10:30pm. Pizza for our Thanksgiving dinner tradition. Ja, it all started 11 years ago... when sweetie pie was a few weeks old and busy boy was 1 1/2, and mama was tired! We decided to stay in for the long weekend.... rented Star Wars, and it was so much fun, so relaxing that it was determined this should be our little family tradition. And so it is! And so it is my favorite holiday.
Oh yes I have pictures, coming soon..... and boy are we thankful for good health, good food, and good friends!
Meanwhile, we're busy eating, watching, playing, napping ;) and really napping! hee hee
An afternoon walk to stretch our legs after filling our bellies. I stopped to photo the fish swimming in the trees!

A weekend to remember
WOW!
Let me just say again, I LOVE this sport!!!! I love it for many reasons. Very near the top of the list... I get to hang with the guys!!! Other than Gina, whom I invited to come along to the training, I was the only girl!!! That is so much fun, you have no idea!!! I mean, a 4 hour karate workout with 30 awesome men!! Does it just get any better??! Heee heeee! I was excited the entire workout!
It was much more! We picked up the world famous, J.G. (initials 'cause I don't a want a search to come here....) and Mr. B from the airport Friday morning. had a very informative seminar that night. The seminar continued bright and early Sat. morning where we got more involved with the sales aspect... interacting with more of the founding members of this new curriculum. These were guys from Florida, Atlanta, New Jersey and Texas! We broke for a lite lunch with everyone, and continued on to the gym for that four hour, intensive workout! Woooohee, I'm so sore today, and will be for the week to come! After our training we all went back to the hotel.... had some drinks in the lobby, and went out for dinner to a good micro-brewery just up the road!
What a great, great weekend! And, did I mention I'm soooo sore?!
The Texans that stayed out to continue partying with us, after Kurt brought back the first vanload of guys to the hotel for the night. The guy in the white shirt was my sparring partner for nearly the entire workout! Awesome talent! Looks can be deceiving! ;)

chop

Look what I went and did before I lost the 14 pounds that I told Kurt would happen first.... He was not happy. But I'm such an impatient child of the 70's. I have a 30 minute attention span thanks to Sesame Street. heh. Ja, Kurt's not amused.....
I love it, love it.....It's back to it's normal dirty blonde color and wave.... Hmmm, maybe some spiral curls will be in my future this spring.... but for now, I have my work cut out for me! I'm back to working out 4 days a week. If I must be at the karate school, I'll be out on the floor working out! Serves a double purpose too. Not only does it benefit me, but now the students see that I can do the stuff too! And hey, Kurt and I are the only instructors at our school who regularly take class!
More to come.... but first, a nap since I've been in the habit of waking up at midnight and staying up 'til after 3am. Gah,,,, this sleeplessness and wicked busy brain of mine. Kurt's right, I have to shut the brain off, and punch the time clock out of work in the evening.... Can't bring stuff home with you even when it is your business.... and you work from home..... sigh....

Overheard
"OHHH ho. You are goooood!" that was me.
"No, I am better than that!" Kurt says! (I was quoting Chiun, from the movie, "Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins") Naturally! hahaha...
He's got my computer backed up, wiped clean, re-installed and all my email with passwords, and camera pictures, and favorites lists....and tool bar on the bottom.... back the way it was.
Wow.
I'm speechless. Well, not really, that's never been my problem! ;)
And I thought I was being all geeky this afternoon when I single handedly got my wireless connection to find the internet again. Pretty good for me, 'eh?! ;) I was patting myself on the back. Even called Kurt to tell him what I could do. Now of course, it was my fault to begin with that I went and got all infected being unprotected, sleazing around the big ol' net like I was without a condom..... er.... without a virus protection program running. You can pick up nasty bugs out there....
sigh.
But, all is good on the homefront/computer front again.... sheesh, never a dull moment 'round here!
Martial Arts seminar in Florida .... well, the jury is out still on the verdict. I'm leaning toward, waay too much money spent for not a lot in return. You know, why bother to have the seminar in Florida if you never plan to step foot outdoors. Shoot, we could have had it in Alaska. At least the rooms would have been warm. I swear, that's our only complaint... well, ok, one of only a few about Florida. Those dang Floridians love their air conditioning. Crikey. I didn't fly all the way to the sunshine and palm trees for 62 degrees. I could have stayed home and froze. But, we went outside for the sun as much as we could! I think we had a private lunch poolside on Saturday.... Crazy guys.... I guess 74 degrees in the sun is just too darn cold for an outdoor lunch! Oh yes... seminars. For me, about every 2 out of 3 lectures were worthwhile. There was always the occasional dud. The one where you'd like to be able to get up and walk out. I did finally get the nerve to do that by the end of the day. Ehn, I don't want my time wasted in the freezing rooms while there's sunshine to take in! heh. Especially if you're going to talk about bizarre topics that have no relevance to my school now or in the future..... Kurt caught a couple of flops too.... But, we did however have some great lectures full of really important info with really lively speakers! So, ya know, it was pretty good... but when you figure in the cost output.... well, easy to say, we won't be going back next year.
Ok... more stories to tell, but that's coming tomorrow.....

Our conversation
Me at the gate in Atlanta, he on the shuttle bus heading to his car in the remote parking lot, Milwaukee.
"Right, so how will I get home from the parking lot?"
"You'll want to go north to Milwaukee so you can pick up the 43 South which is really heading west!"
"Perfect sense. I go North so I can go South which is in reality West, to get me home"
...and you see why I have such troubles driving. Sheesh, doesn't matter that we have North, South, East and West on our road signs..... they're all screwed up anyways!

Now it's time for lunch poolside! Mmmm, cajun noodles, cajun rice for Kurt, Bourbon pork and an eggroll with a glass of red wine and an orange julius for dessert! Perfect!

A weekend in the sun
It's my turn.
Bundle up the kids for school and I'm off on my own adventure! The first part involves me driving to the Milwaukee airport. It's one thing when you're the passenger in the car.... a whole 'nother ball game when you have to drive the route! I mean, just the other day I got lost 20 miles from home on some bat crazy back roads. Yes, I'm special that way.
This could be fun.
Alrightie, I'm hoping for a delay free first trip, as I'm flying into Atlanta and have 40 minutes to catch my flight out to Orlando.... See her run!
And, if Kurt can get my laptop booted up other than in safe mode...(took a hit or bounced around the overhead compartment we think...) I can put up some pics from the big Karate Convention this weekend!
Buh-bye! Have a great one!

My laptop and Kurt
...are winging their way to Florida. In fact, he'll be landing in the land of palm trees and Mickey Mouse in about 45 mins. I hear it's gorgeous there today. After all the excitement this morning at 4:13am, I'm heading back to bed!
Yes, Kurt, I really was awake and up! Decided to read the paper with my morning coffee. I couldn't get back to sleep, because my mind was racing with all these cool new ideas and drills for the little dragons next week! heh. I'm getting a better handle on how to keep the class, 2 girls and 15 boys all ages 3-5, moving! The first day was a bit daunting. I had forgotten just how much bounce a 4 year old has! Now multiply that by 17.... wow! It's a lively Little Dragons Class indeed!
UPDATE:
Just got a phone call from Kurt. I asked, "so, you're in sunny Florida, eh?!"
"Nope. Nashville, Tennesee."
Turns out they're telling all the passengers an "idiot light" came on in the cockpit, and they had to land to see what was wrong.... "but, it's just a minor delay."
Right. As Kurt tells me.....
"Sure, just a service light. Well, you don't have firetrucks lined up on the runway for a simple matter. If it were only some minor problem, why not stay in the air and continue on the 45 mins to Orlando? It was something more dangerous... they're just not telling us."
So, he is now in line for the free lunch vouchers the airline is handing out.... seems the landing in Nashville will be for an indefinite time..... He tells me I may even beat them down to Florida.... 'cause they're not going anywhere fast. They're waiting for the airline company to fly in mechanics......
Oh brother. I hope he stays safe!

A baby girl was about to make her appearance. She had set up camp and was growing fatter as the days wore on.
In my infinite wisdom, (not), I decided the day after a holiday where kids get hopped up on sugar would be a good day to have a baby.
I was huge, my hips hurt, my nerves frazzled from chasing the 1-1/2 year old boy around, and my body was showing no signs of pushing this big baby out. So at my check-up on halloween 1995 I said to my doctor, "Enough is enough! I'm ready, even if this baby isn't!" He agreed that 40 weeks was time enough, and to show up at the hospital early the next morning!
The induction began at 7am. 9am, still no contractions...... 10am, finally, some action!
11:55am, our chubby little bundle of pink, all 9 pounds of cuteness, was born!

....and thus began life with 2 under 2......
Happy Day, little Cee!!

The fairy butterfly who forgot to put her wings on for the picture, and the 'Fro Bros.
The children's memories of halloween.....
*their mom is always crabby and short tempered
*their costumes are always puffy with winter coats underneath.... sigh.... ah, trick or treating in Chicago. We all have good memories of costumes gone awry with pants sticking out or looking like a sumo wrestler in drag....
Well, at least it wasn't raining this year.....
