So, Sunday afternoon, there we are enjoying a game of Super Scrabble when there's a knock on our door. Our cleaners are standing there with a tiny, kitten in their arms. They cannot keep it in their apartment and are hoping to find a home for it. So, being the suckers kind-hearted folks we are, we agree to give it a try... provided this little one knows how to use the litter box!

So far she's adjusting ok to living with 2 dogs and a 100 year old cat.... So, soon we'll need to name her. We're thinking a 'C' name or 'K' name.

It's off to the vet tomorrow morning. She'll need her check-up and some shots.

Any ideas?! 'Cause wow, the family is coming up with some wacky names....

Is Your Jar Full? - by: Unknown

A Professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

So the Professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The Professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "Yes."

The Professor then produced two cans of beer from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
"Now," said the Professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things - your family, your children, your health, your friends, your favorite passions - things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car.

The sand is everything else - the small stuff."

"If you put the sand into the jar first", he continued, "There is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.

The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house, and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

When he had finished, there was a profound silence. Then one of the students raised her hand and with a puzzled expression, inquired what the beer represented.

The Professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of beers! :)

This email was sent to me this morning by Kurt!

Life is good! So full, so busy, so happy. Gah! Can you believe it? I'm turning into one of those perky people! It's all because the cardio kickboxing give me such stores of energy and happiness!

April is proving busy, I haven't been updating much here. I spend more time over at Flickr with my photos. I've never been much of a writer.

The martial arts school keeps us busy. My cardio kickboxing classes are packed, so much that I've added in a 3rd class during the week! I'm teaching now Monday, Tuesday and Friday. The intense exercise is quite addicting and has been changing me. I sleep better at night, have stores of energy on any given day and perhaps my legs look a little better. The weight is still the same. My eating habits are keeping up with my exercise habits... ah well. You'd think 3 pesky pounds would be easy to drop. Hah. It isn't . So be it then. We're coming up on testing week followed by our inner school tournament, followed by the NAGA (North American Grappling Association) tournament at the end of May in Chicago, followed by two June parades to organize and an all-school Pool Party to show our appreciation to our ever-growing family of martial arts students! Phew. And that will bring us up to the beginning of July!

Oh! We're training this weekend, so I must get the house sitter, nanny, and all that goes along with maintaining kids and animals sorted. Business portion Friday night, 9 hours of kickboxing on Saturday and 4 hours of grappling / Jiu-Jitsu wrasslin' around on Sunday.... So we won't see any sunshine/pool time in Tampa this trip! Oiy!
